Ryan was approached by this Brazilian Surf Brand to develop new footwear concepts.

When visiting the original wetsuit factory in Garopaba near Santa Catarina, Brazil, the inspiration came for functional beach shoes that could utilize new footwear technology that was being embraced by the local industry in Brazil.

Injection EVA foam, a lightwieght alternative to Rubber was utilized as the base for a lightweight neoprene shoe that could be made locally in their wetsuit factory.

A cross between a sandal and espadrille with a sneaker upper, this concept utilized Mormaii's ability to recycle neoprene off-cuts from wetsuit production and make them into sandal soles as an alternative to EVA foam.

The upper materials could be made from locally sourced hemp and assembled  in Brazil.
